In the era of the Internet, don’t be too fast to dismiss social networking websites as “places to post pictures of the weekend.” In fact many social websites can be helpful in getting a potential job seekers name out in the open.

Recently many have been turning to major social media outlets to get their name in the open in order to meet potential connections in their respective industry. For example jakeonjobs outlines two major websites, Linked In and Twitter:

“Twitter – A Site for Piquing Interest. This IS a site for letting others know what you are doing, reading, creating, working on, or thinking about at any given moment. That’s it.”

Twitter is the simplest to use out of all the social media websites because the interface is very user friendly, and there is little effort required to set it up as compared to other social sites that require a plethora of personal information and time to begin.
